A Fine Early Carved Figure of a Young Woman, Bougainville or Buka Island, c.1930s,
carved in a sensitive naturalistic style, standing on a rounded base with her arms held to her sides, she is wearing a beaded belt around her waist. The carver of this figure is a similar hand to that of other Bougainville Island figures in the Exhibition & catalogue Varilaku: Pacific Arts from The Solomon Islands, NGA, Canberra, 2011 illus pp 54-55, collected in 1933, from the Queensland Museum
